Father Saturnino Urios University (FSUU) is pleased to announce the establishment of the Innovation, Data Empowerment, and Analytics (IDEA) Office, a significant milestone that underscores the university’s commitment to fostering innovation, enabling data-driven decision-making, and advancing research and development in data science and related fields.
The IDEA Office amalgamates the expertise of several specialized centers, including the Technology Business Incubator (TBI), Data Science and Analytics Center (DSAC), Intellectual Property Center (IPC), System Development Center (SDC), and the Modern Packaging Printing Solution. By leveraging the unique capabilities of these centers, the IDEA Office aims to create a synergistic environment that supports entrepreneurs, researchers, industry professionals, and business and technology academic programs, thus driving innovation and growth across the region. Dr. Eltimar T. Castro Jr. has been appointed as the director of the new office, effective August 16, 2024.
Dr. Castro is a highly qualified professional with a Masterβs Degree from Surigao del Norte State University and a Doctorate in Information Technology from the Technological Institute of the Philippines. He has also received Specialized Training in Data Analytics from IBM and Data Science Fundamentals from the University of California, Irvine. He has been the leader in various projects with the Department of Science and Technology, the local government of Butuan, and other partner organizations. His extensive experience as a data analyst, programmer, and academic leader, uniquely positions him to guide the office in fulfilling its mission.
