Greetings!
The purpose of the Church and of Catholic education is to turn us into little Christs. It is to continue the process of transformation in Christ that began in our baptism. We experience this continuing transformation through the sacraments, through prayer, through the many ways we receive God’s grace, and through our own efforts to cooperate with that grace. Finally, we may be transformed, if our spirits are open, by our encounter with the Jesus in others.
In all these ways, FSUU can develop, in both students and staff, the character of Christ. Broadly stated, the challenges of Catholic character education are two: (1) How can we encourage children and adults to develop a personal, prayerful, sacramental relationship with Jesus that will enable him/her to live more fully in them – to give them his/her very self, his/her character? (2) How can FSUU become a living incarnation of Christ, a community that enables all its members to experience the transforming power of God’s love through the generous, forgiving, yet demanding love of Christians?
Spiritual and values formation or character building is every Urian’s concern and by no means should it be the sole responsibility of the Office of Religious Affairs. As Urians, each is tasked with molding each other’s person by striving to live holy lives become signs of Christ’s abiding presence and unfailing compassion.

| Overview |
Sometimes referred to as the “heart of the university,” the Office of Religious Affairs (ORA) is the center for spiritual and values formation of the university students, faculty and staff. As such, this office is charged with both the academic religious education of students in the different departments (grade school, high school and college), and the pastoral care of the whole Urian community. ORA is headed by a priest director (who at the same time is the university chaplain) working together with 3 campus ministers, 7 Religious Education teachers, and 1 technical staff. |
