Father Saturnino Urios University offers Bachelor of Science in Nursing approved and recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) order N0. 31, s 1995.

The program has satisfactorily met the standards and fulfilled all the requirements of the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA), for level II.

The program is a four year course. The curriculum offers courses in the arts and sciences, humanities and nursing. The major nursing subjects focuses on holistic development of the student nurses in acquiring knowledge and skills on the preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative care of individual and community. All eleven (11) core values required by the Board of Nursing are incorporated in all the concepts learned.

The students are exposed to different areas of the different facilities FSUU is affiliating for their selected learning experience.

 
Objectives

The Father Saturnino Urios University, Nursing program aims to develop a compassionate, sentient rational, pro-active professional nurse and health care provider with a Christian orientation and values who can contribute to the upliftment of the health standards in the home, hospital, immediate community and the country side, geared towards a reformed society with mature faith, nationalistic attitude, good health practices and economic self sufficiency.

To this end, the Nursing Program aims to produce professional nurses and health care providers who have:

  • Gained sensitive awareness to the health needs of society as well as a commitment to the alleviation of problems arising therefrom with preferential option of responding to the health needs of the poor, sick, underserved and marginalized Filipinos.

  • Acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, restoration of health and the alleviation of human suffering;
  • Develop a critical, creative and reflective thinking in the practice of and through the use of the health / nursing process, the utilization of research findings and in the involvement of culture & arts program.
Special Feature


Father Saturnino Urios University formerly Urios College opened its Nursing Program in the year 1991. The first batch graduates (1995) made Urios College number 7th College of Nursing in the whole Philippines according to its performance in the Nursing Licensure Board Exam. The program had maintained its standard up to the present, manifested in its yearly performance in the nursing licensure board exam.

The passing percentage of the University is always higher than the national passing percentage. We had board topnotchers and had a hundred percentage (100%) passing rate for two years.

We have four (4) topnotchers serving the program as lecturers in the major concepts. Our faculty members are competent to handle lectures and follow-up students in their related learning experiences. We have a set of criteria in the selection and hiring of clinical instructors and supervisory program is strongly implemented to ensure the quality of learning experiences of the students.

The program has four (4) fully air conditioned nursing skills laboratory equipped with modern and updated laboratory equipment. Nursing lecture rooms are likewise air conditioned.

We have also a nursing library updated with new edition books and wide variety of reading materials to meet the needs of the nursing students.
